2015 :: one word

Happy New Year y'all!! 

In some ways it's hard to believe that 2014 is over already, and in other ways it feels like it was a full year. When I look back it feels like it sped by, but then when I think about it, I feel like it was a full year, and I really did appreciate and live in the moments far more than I have ever done previously. {except perhaps when I was a kid, because one of the super awesome things about kids is that they aren't really capable of not living in each moment.}

I've been working on a post to recap my word{s} {lol} for 2014: Here & Now, for quite some time, hopefully it will be published soon. Stay tuned for that. ha!

But for today, I want to share the word that I chose for this year, 2015.  

seek.

I want to seek the LORD this year, more then I have ever before. 

• I want to seek God and His will for my life, and for my future. 
• I want to seek God and the gifts + graces, big + small, that He gives each day. 
• I want to seek God and His character so that by His grace I might become more like Him. 
• I want to seek God and His grace because I so desperately need it myself, + so that I might generously extend it to others. 
• I want to seek God and His presence and all that He is so that I will know Him better, + be ever closer to Him, that I might discern His voice from all others, be satisfied only by Him, + keep my eyes fixed upon Him.

 I want to spend more time seeking Him than I do on small silly selfish fleshly things like I do right now. 

That's what I want this year.

Also, on the subject of my December Goal, which was slow for Advent and make the most of the Christmas season, I feel like I did that pretty well this year. :) I may or may not make a January Goals post later. We'll see. I have so many post ideas floating around in my head, and so many posts that I wanted to make in December that I never did...  like a Dressember fashion ideas post, and some advent stuff, among many others. like my 2014 word recap.

On a slightly related note, today was the first day for pants again and I'm alovin' it! ;) We also came up with this funny idea that I am not doing, wearing jeans all of January and calling it Jeanuary. lol

Meet Me & 31 Days {!!}

So now I've been blogging for a little while, and I've realized that because my family is such a huuge part of my life I need to mention them, but it's also kind of hard to mention them sometimes because of the vague anonymous way that I've set myself up here. It's also hard being real and honest at the same time as being vague. When I first started, I hid behind the idea of the scary internet and I didn't want to give anything personal away here.

But now I'm going to take just a wee step forward, and introduce myself a little more. Not completely {this is a wee step, after all}, but more than I have in the past.

So you probably knew, my name is Emma. yep. I've got 5 younger siblings, 1 brother and 4 sisters, and I loove it! :) I'm 17, and working my way through my last year of high school, at home {I've been homeschooled all my life :)}.

At this point in my journey I absolutely love being homeschooled, although for a while I would've given anything to go to school. I love to read, and bake {maybe a few recipes coming up here sometime in the future? :)}, and I love love love kids!

My family is totally awesome, and I really like hanging out with them. Here we all are, this picture is from last year.

I guess that's really what I can think of to share for the moment.

I am doing 31 Days this year!!

I think I first heard of 31 Days two years ago, and I followed Ann Voskamp's blog, and the Nester's, and Emily Freeman's. Last year a found a whole bunch of new ones that I have mostly followed since. I am so excited for this year, and I decided that this year, I would join in and try and write something.... so please join me as I write for 31 days {I hope lol} on Celebrating Life. 

This series is largely inspired by Shauna Niequist's book Cold Tangerines, and I caaaaan't wait to share what I've been learning about celebrating all of the beautiful things in life!

Anyone else doing 31 days? let me know so I can follow! :)

summer update :)

this week has been super amazing and super crazy and super exhausting so far! I'm volunteering at our VBS camp, which is called OASIS, and runs ALL day, so I'm there from 8-5, and we have swimming and stuff in the afternoon. :)

I have a bunch of 4-6 yos in my morning group and then 3 of them are my kids in the afternoon - they are so sweet! thankfully most of them are good listeners, but they sure need a lot of love and attention!!

next week I'm heading away to CYWAL, so there probably won't be a post later in the week, but I am hoping to get a Tunes Tuesday post scheduled :)

welcome to my little space :) here I hope to share the ponderings of my heart. I pray that God may use this space as a place where He will be glorified and honoured. some things that I anticipate sharing about are:

desiring the LORD, contentment (this is a biggie for me right now!!), waiting on the LORD, living in each moment (after all, that's all we ever have, right?), giving thanks, and godly womanhood among others :)

Videos in Feedburner

Just a note to say that when posts have videos (as a lot of them seem to do!), they don't show up in feedburner, you have to actually go to the blog. Having only realized that now, I will try to include a link to the video in the post; but you may want to just go directly to the blog post.

Feedburner/email - PLEASE READ

Hello all,
Unfortunately it seems that our feedburner is NOT working :( (if anyone has any techy help please let me know. :)) I am hoping at some point to try and fix it but for right now we have another plan.
We would like to be able to notify people when new posts are made and realized that there is a section in the settings where you can email people. Unfortunately you can only enter ten email addresses. So the first ten people to either email me (emluvshockey@gmail.com) or comment on this post will get your addresses entered. Anyone who did not make the top ten please still email/comment and Cassidy or I (whoever makes the post) will send an email out saying to check the blog.

UPDATE: It seems our feedburner IS once again working (so sign up! ;))... hopefully it will stay that way, however if it dies again, you can still let me know if you would like to be notified... we only have one person currently 'signed up' (and you know who you are hahaha).
